Here’s our list of common dental emergencies:

Knocked out tooth?

Make an emergency appointment to see your dentist. The sooner a knocked out tooth is re-implanted the more likely it is to fix itself back into the gum.

In the meantime

  • Rinse the tooth in milk, holding it by the crown (avoiding the roots)

  • If possible, put the tooth back into the socket

  • If you cannot re-implant the tooth, store it in a clean container in milk or your saliva

Broken Tooth?

Any obvious damage to a tooth should be treated as soon as possible. Chips or fractures can affect the living tissue inside the tooth, causing problems in the future. Your dentist can prevent the damage from getting worse.

In the meantime

  • Get to your dentist as soon as possible

  • Apply a cold pack to the cheek or lips over the broken tooth

  • Rinse your mouth well with warm water

  • Store any fragments in a clean container in milk or your saliva

Toothache?

If you experience a toothache, call us immediately. We will see you as soon as possible.

In the meantime

  • Get to your dentist as soon as possible

  • Rinse the mouth regularly with water

  • Try to clean any debris from any obvious cavities

  • Use dental floss to remove any trapped particles of food

  • If swelling is present, place a cold compress to the outside of the cheek

  • Take pain relief if necessary

If you find yourself with a dental emergency, help is only a matter of hours away. Contact Gentle Dentistry Adelaide straight away.
