Dentures

A denture is a custom-made appliance that is worn over the gums to replace missing natural teeth. They are removable and are usually made from life-like  teeth. Dentures help to improve chewing ability, speech and aesthetics. They also provide support for facial muscles by filling out your face and improving confidence as a result.

Your dentist may offer one of the following options:

  • A Complete denture (a full set) replaces your upper or lower natural teeth.

  • Partial dentures that replace one or a few teeth are sometimes held with clasps.

Wearing Your Dentures

While they take some getting used to and will never feel exactly the same as natural teeth, take comfort in the fact that today’s dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever. You should wear them as much as possible, except when sleeping. That will give you a chance to clean your dentures.

Cleaning Your Dentures

Our dentists will advise you on how to clean your denture according to the type of denture you have made.

Dental Maintenance

Over time our mouths change and your denture may become loose or the denture teeth may wear down, just like our natural teeth. Continue your yearly examinations with our dentist so we can provide the maintenance that may be required.
